Being Musical

I have been reading for inspiration the last few days. Yes, Music teachers and music therapists do need to be invigorated and re-energised every once in a while...

I was reminded about the musical essence that is within each and everyone of us that enables us to use music as a therapeutic modality.

Every person has an in-built musical chip in that we are able to experience and respond to music and sounds. Sometimes, we may confuse it with "musical talent" but that is different. There are some who have a greater aptitude for music than others such that they can master instrument(s) and the musical language with greater ease.

However, ALL have that in-born ability to respond to music. It is when we tap upon and engage this innate musicality, such that it brings about new experiences and potentially positive changes in an individual, that makes music therapeutic.
